Calvin Mah reported for the Hackfest team that created a library app for the iPhone using the iPhone iWebkit. They created an iPhone app for the Zebra Z39.50 interface and managed to build 3 sample interfaces for the iPhone that showed how quickly one could use this framework to do some cool stuff.
Andrew and reported on their project - O'CRowdsourced which looked at how to improve the OCR output of traditional digitization projects. They looked at the Australian Newspaper project which allows for correction of the OCR raw text. They used the current implementation of the UPEI IslandLives project and made some changes to see how it could be hacked. Some good work in a very short time by some Drupal wranglers.
